General Tips
Temporary Housing
Call Inns of Charleston (843-963-8000): reservations are highly encouraged, you can book up to 30 days when PCSing. Pet friendly units are available by reservation.
Permanent Housing
Housing Assistance (843-963-3858) can help direct you to Hunt Housing or help find realtors.
Switching Your Healthcare
TriCare does not automatically update your information. It is the service member’s (or spouse’s) responsibility to contact Tricare about a change of address. Joint Base Charleston is in the East Region. This can be done by calling 1-800-444-5445
Childcare Help
The CDC (843-963-4366) asks that you sign your child up on the Military Child Care website as soon as you receive your orders.

Loan Closet
Open 0730-1600 M-F: Essentials to rent while you wait for your HHG to arrive or once your HHG have been packed away: bowls, microwave, pack-n-plays, card tables etc. Military spouse can come in without a sponsor with a copy of orders and and ID card. Items are available to rent for up to 30 days. Address is: 104 E. Simpson Street, Building 500
Airman’s Attic and Team Charleston Spouses Club Resale Shop
The Airman’s Attic is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Their number is (843)-963-4408.
Family Childcare Providers
The Military & Family Readiness Center can help you get set up with 20 hours of free child care per child. This service is available up to 60 days after arrival or before a PCS and during deployments. Go into the M&FRC with your orders for a voucher and a list of providers. Contact them for more info at (843) 963-8883.
